In 2019, TASO commissioned the Education Policy Institute (EPI) to review the existing evidence base for widening participation (WP) activities. TASO published EPI’s report in January 2020: The impact of interventions for widening access to higher education.

Following consideration of the report’s findings, and recommendations from the Theme 1 Working Group, TASO adopted the following research priorities:

  • Summer schools
  • Multi-intervention outreach schemes and mentoring
  • Mature learners
  • Learners with experience of children’s social care
