Open call for independent evaluators: institutional data use
Overview
TASO is seeking to appoint an independent evaluator or evaluators to work with higher education (HE) providers on a project exploring the use of institutional data and how it can support better evaluation of the student experience.
Scope
This project seeks to encourage the use of institutional data within and across HE providers to evaluate the effectiveness of post-entry work to enhance the student experience.
The chosen evaluator or evaluators will work with up to four HE providers appointed by TASO to determine how to evaluate the effectiveness of HE provider’s post-entry student support work using institutional data to develop Type 2 (correlational) and Type 3 (causal) evidence. Specifically, each evaluator will:
- Work with TASO to offer advice on the mapping of common activities and outcomes relating to post-entry work. Please note, TASO will lead this activity.
- Work with HE providers and TASO to offer advice on the development of a practical guide to how data infrastructure can be used within HE providers to enable tracking and use of these activities and outcomes.
- Design and implement a flagship evaluation study with each HE providers (up to four) demonstrating ways to use institutional data to develop Type 2 and Type 3 evidence.
The project will run from September 2023 – March 2024.
