On Thursday 19 October, we will be hosting a webinar to launch our new Student Mental Health Evidence Hub, funded by the Office for Students.
During the launch, we will hear from:
- Omar Khan, CEO at TASO, who will be chairing the event and welcoming attendees to the hub.
- Student Support Champion Professor Edward Peck, who will join Omar in conversation on how the Student Mental Health Evidence Hub will help the taskforce.
- John Blake, Director for Fair Access and Participation at the Office for Students, will share insights on the significance of evidence-based practices.
We’re are also excited to feature a panel discussion with:
- Emma Bales, Vice Chair of AMOSSHE
- Dr Nicola Byrom, Network Leader for SMaRteN and Senior Lecturer in Psychology at King’s College London
- Nancy Hey, Executive Director of What Works Wellbeing

The Hub will provide information, evidence and evaluation guidance that the sector can use to improve the efficacy of their student mental health support.
The Student Mental Health Evidence Hub includes:
- A toolkit that sets out the available evidence on what works to support student mental health
- Examples of practice
- Evaluation guidance
- Our advisory student panel perspectives on student mental health in HE
Developed by a consortium consisting of AMOSSHE The Student Service Organisation, King’s/SMaRteN, Student Minds, and What Works Wellbeing, we have synthesised evidence, identified current practices and gaps in mental health support for students, supported partners in evaluating their interventions, and produced case studies and evaluation guidance.
The event will take the following format:
